Making An Appointment

If you would like counselling, the first step is to contact us. An initial appointment with a staff counsellor will be arranged for you. This appointment usually lasts 50 minutes. The staff counsellor will discuss the issues you wish to address in counselling and explain how the process works.

Initial appointments usually take place during the day. There can be a waiting time of two weeks for the initial appointment. Clients aged under 18 require consent and for those aged under 16 a parent or guardian must be present for the initial appointment.

It is the policy of Living Life Counselling that clients over 18 must contact the service personally to book an appointment. While we are happy to answer any questions or queries family members or referrers may have, the client must make the appointment themselves.

Following the initial appointment the client is placed on a waiting list while the staff counsellor seeks an available vacancy from an appropriate counsellor at a time convenient for the client. Once a matching counsellor becomes available, the client is contacted and offered appointments.

Counselling takes place once a week for 50 minutes at one of our centres. The length of time that clients need is discussed between the client and the counsellor. Usually, clients will be asked to commit to at least 6 sessions and a maximum of 24 sessions.
